 I use a translation application to make it easier for me to learn English. You can type or speak an English word into your phone and it will give you the foreign language equivalent in writing.  Which you can then play with too if you need help with pronunciation. You can go the other way too, from a foreign language to English.

Voice recognition is quite impressive.  I usually don't like any kind of voice recognition, as it's too annoying when it doesn't work, but so far I've been pretty lucky with this one. When I'm on a computer, I just use the Google Translate website, but on the go, I enjoy this phone app.
